Treatment for lines and wrinkles (Botulinum Toxin A – Botox, Azzulure® From £200

Botulinum Toxin Type A (toxin) has been successfully and safely used for many years to temporarily improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, supported by a significant body of clinical evidence. It is commonly used to soften and improve the appearance of the lines across the forehead, around the eye area (crow’s feet) and the frown area.

Where appropriate, it can also be used to improve the appearance of specific areas in the lower face, such as the neck and the chin. It is long established as a safe muscle relaxant indicated and licensed for many medical uses, as well as cosmetic.

How Long does it last?

Typically, an initial treatment with Botulinum Toxin A may last 3- 4 months but this depends on a variety of factors including lifestyle (exercise), use of facial muscles and tolerance of the toxin, thus you may find it lasts a little longer or shorter than the suggested time frame.

Is it Safe?

Botulinum toxin A is an extensively studied, naturally occurring bacterial protein. It is a prescription only medicine, with an excellent safety profile. At nursefirst aesthetics, we only use the highest quality brands, one of which is Azzalure®

How soon will I see the results?

Lines may begin to visibly soften from 3-5 days following treatment, and may continue to improve up to 2-3 weeks later. We advise all of our patients to return for a scheduled review at 2 weeks to assess the response to treatment and ensure that a natural and softened result has been achieved. Additional doses of toxin may be required to achieve the desired result, these are free of charge up to 4 weeks following initial treatment.

I am needle phobic, does it hurt?

Toxin is a relatively comfortable procedure, the needles we use are incredibly fine bore needles, a slight scratch may be felt on insertion into the skin but generally it is well tolerated.

Will I bruise?

There is potential to cause slight bruising upon injection. However, great care will be taken to avoid obvious vessels. Arnica gel or cream is applied after treatment to help with swelling and bruising.

Will I be required to keep having the treatment regularly?

There is no requirement to undertake regular toxin treatment. That said, due to the nature of the drug, the treatment is self-limiting and eventually muscle activity returns, a causative factor for dynamic and static lines. It is recommended that treatment episodes are no more frequent then every 3-4 months.

What are the cost implications?

Treatment ranges from £200, there is a supplement for male botox as generally speaking, males require a larger amount of toxin per area.
